Everything your circle runs on.
Takentu is being built in stages, and this page marks each one honestly. Some of what follows you can use this afternoon. Some of it we're still writing.

Working today
The circle
Working todayYour njangi as a real object in a real system, instead of a spreadsheet tab and a group chat.
- Create a circle with a name and a shareable link
- Three roles — admin, treasurer, member — with permissions the product enforces
- Hand ownership to someone else without losing any history
- Archive a circle that's finished, keeping its record intact
- Belong to several circles and switch between them in a click
Getting people in
Working todayThree ways in, because a circle of twelve rarely joins the same way.
- Email invitations with encrypted links that expire after fourteen days
- Renew or revoke an invitation that's gone stale
- See whether an invitation was delivered, opened or bounced
- A join code for people you'd rather send a code than an email
- Request-to-join, when you want to approve each person yourself
Who's in, and what they've done
Working todayA member directory that answers the questions a treasurer actually gets asked.
- Full roster with role, status and join date
- Separate views for admins and members — people see what concerns them
- Search and page through large circles
- An activity trail recording every change to the circle: who, what, when
- Records are appended, never rewritten — nothing is quietly edited away
Security and your account
Working todayThe part that has to be right before any money is involved.
- Multi-factor authentication with an authenticator app, and recovery codes
- Required for admins and treasurers — not a setting they can skip
- Sensitive actions ask you to confirm again, even mid-session
- See every session and device on your account, and end any of them
- A personal security timeline: sign-ins, changes, everything
- Change your email, deactivate, or delete your account yourself
In development
Rounds and payout order
In developmentThe shape of your njangi, written down once so nobody has to remember it.
- Set the contribution amount, the cycle length and how many cycles a round runs
- Arrange the payout order by hand, or draw it at random
- Everyone will see when they pay and when they're paid, from the day the round starts
- Changes after a round starts will need approval, and will be recorded
The contribution ledger
In developmentOne record, shared by everyone, that nobody can quietly change.
- Every contribution, payout and correction will be an entry that stands permanently
- Corrections will be added as new entries, never as edits to old ones
- Treasurers will be able to record contributions collected outside Takentu — so a circle can keep using Zelle and still keep a real ledger
- Each member will see their own standing, and how the circle is doing overall
Money movement
In developmentBetween members' own bank accounts. Not into a wallet.
- Members will connect the bank account they already use
- On each close date, contributions will be collected automatically
- The pooled amount will go to whoever's turn it is
- Failed or returned transfers will be surfaced to the treasurer, not silently swallowed
- US first, then the UK, France and Belgium
Reminders
In developmentSo the treasurer stops being the reminder.
- Nudges before a contribution is due, and after it's missed
- A notice when a contribution arrives, and when a payout goes out
- Everyone chooses what reaches them, and how
Reports and exports
In developmentThe answer to "what have I paid in this year?" in one tap instead of two hours.
- Member standing and year-to-date totals
- A full ledger for any round or cycle
- CSV and PDF exports for your records or your accountant
Billing
In developmentOne subscription for the circle, not twelve.
- Pricing to be announced — we'll publish it before billing starts
- Invoices and receipts an admin can download
- Nothing is charged today — billing isn't switched on yet
Who can do what
The treasurer runs the money; the admin owns the circle. Nobody has to be the only person who can keep it running.

A circle can have more than one admin and more than one treasurer. Nobody has to be the only person who can keep it running.
What Takentu isn't
Worth being clear about, because several products in this space are one of these.
Not a wallet.
There's no Takentu balance to top up, and no float sitting with us.
Not a bank.
Your money stays with your bank. We're the record and the schedule, not the vault.
Not a lender.
No credit, no interest, no advances. A njangi isn't a loan and we won't turn it into one.
Not an investment product.
Nothing here earns a return. You get out what the circle puts in.
Not a place to meet strangers.
Takentu is invite-only by design. You bring your circle; we don't assemble one for you.
Start with what’s ready.
Get your circle on the record today. The rest arrives as we build it.
